Tour
Guide Education Department is the only one of its kind in the tertiary institutions
of China. At present, the department offers four specialties: Tour Guide
Service & Management, Travel Service Operation & Management, International
Tour Guide (Outbound Tour Leader) and Tourism Planning. The Tour Guide Service
& Management specialty has been designated as the Demonstration Specialty
by the Provincial Government; the other three specialties are unparalleled
in the country. With distinctive characteristics and outstanding performance,
the department enjoys a high reputation in and outside the Guangxi Zhuang
Autonomous Region. At present, the department has three teaching and research
sections and one research institution: Tour Guide Teaching & Research
Section, Travel Service Teaching & Research Section, Outbound Tour Guide
Teaching & Research Section, and Travel Service & Scenic Region
Research Institution. It also owns a modern Simulated Guiding Laboratory.
Every year, many candidates
(80%) who hope to pass the National Tour Guide Qualification Examination
would come to the institute to take pre-exam short-term courses offered
by the department; and the pass rate is considerably high. The department
is also responsible for the Qualification Examination Training Class for
General Managers & Department Managers of Travel Service organized by
the Tourism Administration of Guangxi.
Meanwhile,
the department is also involved in large scale projects and business ventures
from tourism enterprises, such as travel services, hotels and scenic regions
for tourism planning, staff training and compiling books for tour guiding.
The department is well at the forefront in integrating teaching with practice,
and tourism with scientific research to serve the society. |
