The department of Basic Courses consists of 4 teaching and research sections: social science, basic cultural courses, P.E., and computer. The social sciences teaching and research section provides the only two political courses in the whole institute: Mao Zedong Thought and Deng Xiaoping Theory. The section has made great achievements in teaching reforms and scientific research in the past few years. The basic cultural courses teaching and research section is responsible for the teaching of literature, Chinese and mathematics. The P.E. teaching and research section is in charge of teaching baseball, bowling ball, calisthenics, basketball, volleyball and football. Both the school baseball team and calisthenics team have got good results in all the previous competitions at the provincial and national levels. The computer teaching and research section takes great efforts to study modern teaching models, contributing to the popularity of our college students’ computer literacy. This section also offers some elective courses for the students, broadening their outlook and skills. The teachers’ training is part of this department efforts to achieve excellence, in ensuring that the staff is always highly qualified. The department takes great pride in its undertakings.
